Where will you hang your coat tonight?
TV Frame Media Wall Explained.
For many years I’ve been fitting furniture in people’s homes and one of the most constant things I’ve seen is TVs just hanging of the wall, wires dangling down to various media devices. It’s so easy to do, there are so many options and TV wall brackets on the market that can hang and tilt your TV for better viewing, some even swing out and you can watch the TV from any angle, fancy.
For me though they just look unsightly and ugly, some people put shelves underneath them for the media equipment or just sit any media devices on top of a low storage unit, yeah still looks rubbish. It is one of the most popular things to do with a at screen TV and even if you do manage to hide the wires it still looks, well, you know, like a TV hanging of the wall.
I’ve even been guilty of doing the same thing for many years, I’ve had the TV hanging on the wall and whilst it improved the viewing quality it still looked rubbish and disconnected to the rest of my furniture, apart from the dangling wires.
So I set about doing something about it.
Back in the day people would buy TV cabinets and stands or units to hide or try and make the TV look more aesthetically pleasing, but with the development of slim flat screen TVs you don’t need the big ole TV cabinets any more because you know, you can just pop it on the wall, so we now call it a “media wall”.
Also back then you only had a video player to connect to the TV, oops, showing my age now, but these days there’s loads of devices you can connect to the TV. So why not design and manufacture a TV cabinet that’s more compatible with today’s viewing preferences and technology, that is on the wall?
So we did.
Now the thing to remember is that the TV Frame is still hanging on the wall no matter its appearance, well not so much hanging but certainly secured, very well. Secured to the wall via a counter balancing sub frame. This is scribed and cut to the wall shape to ensure a tight no gap connection to wall and also to level the TV Frame so it looks square and true when fitted.
As you can see from this angle the sub frame at the back of the TV Frame is the only support for this frame style, The Hanger, the two pillars are attached to the ceiling to maintain position NOT support.
Now this sub frame is very clever, it not only supports the TV Frame but also positions it and suspends it of the wall, from 20mm to 100mm if required which allows for easy redecoration.
It doesn’t matter which style you choose all of our TV Frames are fitted in this manner, so if it’s a Perch or Floater the pillars are not there for support but to add a dynamic design style and make this piece of furniture truly stand out.
But we didn’t stop there, we’ve added additional features to the frames, even smart TVs usually require external devices to provide additional entertainment such as Sky box, NOW tv, Apple TV, sound bars, XBOX, DVD players. So we added neat storage for all of these devices and more if required, keeping all of your media requirements in one very neat and stylish place.
We do recommend that the power socket and possibly aerial/media connection depending on type of device and WiFi connection, be moved to a more suitable position behind the TV Fame to get the full experience of this piece of furniture. If that’s not possible there are other options depending on style of frame and we can run any wiring through the pillars which are pretty much hollow.
All TV Frames come with a standard hang and tilt TV bracket which will hold your TV flush or slightly tilted with the front of the TV Fame but should you wish to have the TV swing out to provide a different viewing angle that can be done as well. Our TV Frames are built from 25mm thick board so they are very robust and solidly fitted to the wall, if you bumped into it, it’ll hurt.
This is our version of a modern day TV cabinet/unit and we think you would agree, they look quite stunning, they don’t have much purpose but they will make any room look more exciting and dynamic. Apart from enhancing your living space you will spend hours looking at it when watching your favourite soap or movie, only then will you truly appreciate the style and convenience a TV Frame can bring.
